Humans have done serious deforestation to all forests. But the biome has been hit the hardest from the lumber industry, as thousands of square miles of rainforest are clear-cut. The main reason for this is because of the sheer size of the trees that grow in the Temperate Rainforest. The primeval forests of the pacific Northwest alone hold the 5 tallest trees in the world; and most of them are endangered because of over-logging. Other causes for deforestation are Urbanization and artificial forest fires.

Positive Impacts
Some people have gone at lengths to stop logging of the now-endangered trees and hunting of animals in the temperate rainforest. British Columbia has made quite a few species of tree illegal to export and poach, such as the Northern Spotted Owl, and Mountain Caribou. But alas, the government has a long way to go, as but five percent of the endangered species are protected.
The northern spotted owl is a protected species.
Problems
Problem 1: Deforestation
One of the critical enviornmental problems of the temperate rainforest is deforestation. People do this by either chopping trees down, or burning trees down. Deforestation in this biome is used mailny for farming, although is also used for other uses, such as, lumber, and raising livestock. The problem with this though, is that soil erosion takes place because the, one standing, trees cannot help the soil stay in place causing soil erosion, resulting in unsuccessful secondary succesion. Another effect to deforestation is loss of habitat. When woodland animals habitat is chopped down and converted into a farm, they have nowhere to live. They would eventually die, and possibly, become extinct.

Solution: Reforestation
Although deforestation may seem terrible, and as if it can never be fixed, there are ways that we can stop this madness, reforestation could be one. Reforestation is completely the opposite of our problem, deforestation. This may take a while; but can be successful. Another way to solve deforestation is to install comercial forest plantations. What they could do is cut down on deforestation by supplying lumber. They could cut their own wood and not be forced to chop wood down from the enviornment, it's their own.
Problem 2: Air Pollution
Another major affect on the temperate rainforest enviornment is air pollution. Air pollution can be caused by car exaust, factory emmisions, and even naturally, forest fires. The gases contained in the pollution are usually Co2, Methane or other harmful gases. The sources of air pollution are almost always from burning fuel, such as gasoline or a cigarette, etc. Although some of the air pollution is brought on by nature itself, such as animals digestion which gives of Methane or forest fires that give off Co2. One of the affects of air pollution would be acid rain. Acid rain is a mixture of rain and acid, mainly Co2 or methans, etc. Acid rain comes down in the form of raindrops; but is really like drops of acid. They can easily destroy half of a tree within one shower. They disintegrate the waxy-coating of the leaves, which leaves them vulnerable to the acid, and they slowly are single-handedly taken down. Another affect to air pollution is human death. When people breath in those harmful gases they can develop cardiopulmanary disease. Developing pneumonia has also been linked to breathing in car exhaust.
This is one of the affects of acid rain.
Solution: No Pollution
Air pollution is a terrible thing, and just imagine if we continue to live like that. If some of these solutions were enforced that could help our environment. Cutting down on harmful emisions is a start. Today's factories give of harmful chemicals and put them right into our atmosphere, nuclear power, however, does not. Nuclear power is very similar to regular power in performance; although they use a different method on creating power. They split the atom Uranium and that gives of enough power for a large quantity of houses. Here's another difference, nuclear power produces steam, not Co2, like other companies. That would be a good start to cutting down on Co2. Another way to cut down on Co2 would be to use rechargeable cars. There are a lot of cars in the world, almost all of them running on gasoline, when burned gives off Co2. If we could all switch to recharble cars, using a battery, we would have much less Co2 being released. Just imagine of how much less air pollution we would have if those two ideas were enforced.
